New lead pipes have been banned since the 1980’s but it’s been estimated that there are still over 700,000 lead water service lines across the state. In Milwaukee, the city is making it easier for homeowners to replace them. Recent legislation eliminates costs and red tape to residential property owners when Milwaukee starts a project to replace the lead pipes that connect water mains in the street to properties across the city.
