New lead pipes have been banned since the 1980’s but it’s estimated that there are still 9.2 million lead service lines across the US. Here in Wisconsin, the City of Milwaukee is making it easier for homeowners to replace lead water service pipes. Recent legislation eliminates the costs and red tape to residential property owners when Milwaukee starts a project to replace the lead pipes that connect water mains in the street to properties across the city. In this video from Building Wisconsin TV, we show how a residential lead water service line is replaced with Plumbers Local 75 contractor Mid City Corporation.
