Throughout the state, more women are showing an interest in welding as a career. Classes like Welding For Women are breaking barriers and encouraging young women to enter the Trades. In this video from Building Wisconsin TV, we feature training for Welding and Pipe Fabrication with UA Local 400. Host Stuart Keith starts at the UA 400 Training Center where Business Mgr. Trevor Martin talks about available apprenticeship programs. Then it’s on-the-job training at Bassett Mechanical with company President Kim Bassett and Fabrication Foreman Cody Blauert. Finally, apprentice Maddy DeJardin talks about working for Bassett as a steamfitter while training at UA 400 and her experience with their Youth Apprenticeship Program.
