The 2023 Building Advantage Construction Career Fair happens this Thursday, November 2 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Last year, 700 students from 32 high schools attended the event which seeks to promote career paths in the building and construction trades. This video from Building Wisconsin TV features the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers of Wisconsin (BACWI) at last year’s Career Fair. The students learned about bricklaying, tile setting and Pointer Cleaner Caulkers (PCC) with Jim Vick, Mike Hyatt and Tiffany Tillis from BACWI. Even Milwaukee Bucks President Peter Feigin tried some bricklaying. We’ll also check out PCC restoration projects at the Germania Building in Milwaukee and the Capitol Heat & Power Plant in Madison with John Padberg from Berglund Construction and Zach Zander from BACWI Local 8.
