The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has finalized a rule that will require the removal and replacement of all lead pipes from the country’s water systems within 10 years. Coincidentally, President Biden will visit Wisconsin to talk about the 2021 infrastructure law which provides $15 billion to find and replace lead pipes. It’s estimated that there are approximately 340,000 lead water service lines across Wisconsin but in Milwaukee, the city is making it easier for homeowners to replace them. Recent legislation eliminates costs and red tape to residential property owners when Milwaukee starts a project to replace the lead pipes that connect water mains in the street to properties across the city. In this video from Building Wisconsin TV, we show how a residential lead water service line is replaced with Plumbers Local 75 contractor Mid City Corporation.
