The City of Milwaukee has reached a milestone as 10,000 lead water service pipes have been replaced with copper. Milwaukee Water Works replaced 2,700 lead service lines in 2024 and plans to replace 3,500 this year. Milwaukee has eliminated the costs and red tape to residential property owners when the city starts a project to replace the lead pipes that connect water mains in the street to properties across the city. In this video from Building Wisconsin TV, we show how a residential lead water service line is replaced with Plumbers Local 75 contractor Mid City Corporation.
