May 1 is International Workers’ Day. It’s a celebration of labor and workers promoted by the International Labor Movement. You may not know that it started in 1886 in the aftermath of the Haymarket Massacre when Chicago police killed 8 workers striking in support of an 8 hour work day. Today is a day to remember to hire locally when it comes to our construction projects and pay our highly trained Wisconsin trades people a responsible wage. That way, the money and taxes stay here to maintain the quality of life that we all enjoy. Today’s video from Building Wisconsin TV shows how to get started as a Rig Welder Helper with Steamfitters Local 601. Check out the Careers Tab at BuildingWisconsinTV.com for additional job opportunities in the construction trades.
